Daily Prayers for October 4th, 2022

Prayer of Illumination:

God of all times, we come as children to humble ourselves before the eternal and good teacher, that is you. We come to seek your lessons that we may remember how to live a life faithful beside you. That we may be reminded of who you are to us. We pray that we may be open to your word as it lives beside us each. Words we know that are not trapped in the past, but truly meaningful to our lives today. This we pray in your holy name. Amen.

Prayer of Thanksgiving:

Loving God, we are thankful beyond our words. Even the depths of our hearts cannot contain our gratitude. For how much you have done for us, Lord God, is many moments that we could not possibly count or remember. From every breath is a gift we give thanks. For the that which we remember and for the times which we may not remember your love for us, we give you our heartfelt thanks and selves to show they would your unending goodness. This we pray in your great name. Amen.

Because I remember being told to respect the past, I prayed:

God, I remember always being told to respect the past. But I can’t help but wonder why the past is not told to respect the present or believe in the hope that will come. I know it is because there are lessons of what not to do held like pearls in the past. Yet I wonder, If you are indeed the Lord eternal would not still simply be important to respect all that is because all is yours. I know my thoughts are of that of a youth but how often has the past never truly regret that spirit of being true to themselves as they are. I do not fully know. For my ignorance if I am only out of turn, please forgive me of my sin, O’ God. Amen.
