Daily Prayers for September 1st, 2022

Prayer of Confession:

Amazing God, we see the life that you have sprung from the earth. Marvel at the cleverness, strength, adaptability your creation shows. Yet we really don’t follow that same trust every day. There are times when we see breakthroughs in discovery is threatening things then wonders to marvel as it gives us an opportunity to reflect on how you engage in our world. There are times when we fear strength and we lament not having strength. You’re reluctant to acknowledge that others have gifts we do not, nor do we say celebrates the unique gifts and strengths that you have given us. Not to divide us or just say that we are any better or worse than others, but rather to show us how we are equal. Yet, we turn a blind eye to make ourselves feel better. When we are faced with limitations, we say that life is not fair. When we face the reality of changing our lives and it is not by our own wishes or understandings, we cry it’s not fair. We fail to acknowledge what new gifts being born are yet to be discovered by your grace and by your will. We fail to understand the transformation they can come from a challenge and from a loss. Lord God, we fear transformation into a new life because they will call us out of the life we know. Forgive us in our resistance to adapt to live a life newly called has your people in face. In this way we pray in your holy precious name. Amen.

Prayer of Illumination:

Lord of life, much like how a dog lays at their master’s feet. May we also set at your feet. Much as a dog listen to their master, maybe to listen to your words. Lord as a dog would respond to its master intentional command, may we also respond to your word and live life is faithful to you. Amen.

Because I feel sad being away for days without my dog, I prayed:

God look after the lives which I care about in the times I cannot be there for them.

For you love them not as much as me but more than I ever can.

My simple prayer is that you continue to look after and love them.

            Amen.
