Daily Prayers for August 26th, 2022

Prayer of Confession:

            Lord of Host, we are your guest to witness your great promise. Yet we fail to behave as guest should. We knowingly and unknowingly judge our fellow guests who are also invited. We doubt if such people are worthy of your extraordinary grace. There is time when we act as if we are the host of your gathering. We may clam the work you invite us to would lead to ruin without us. How easily we can, in such times, forget that you are in charge. Sometimes we are picky about what you provide to us as a loving host. We often ask for more or for something else than what you offer, and we do not give thanks. God forgive us when we are poor guest as we try to learn from our mistakes. May we be invited to see the wonder of your great promise for creation alongside you and all the saints. This we pray in your holy name. Amen. 


Because I prayed:

God, I wonder what think and what you do about us. I have some knowledge of who you are, but I do not know how much I truly know you. I know that you work alongside us, yet we have time when it is hard to know what is truly you and what is simply humans being humble in humanity. Perhaps I wonder too much on all this stuff. For I know that you are good. And the good you show us will spring in time. I find some comfort it this and give thanks. Amen.

Prayer of Illumination: Lord God of Compassion, We seek you and the abondance of your wisdom. We find comfort in your message of love the goes beyond time. A message for all generations. We come before you to find your grace in hard time. To learn from lessons old of your people and to find comfort in the peace you offer us now. That we all be enabled to learn and grow closer as a community of faith. This we pray in your dear name. Amen.   Prayer of Thanksgiving: Lord God of Assurance, We are thankful for your grace during every season. We see the beauty of your flowery spring, the warmth of your summer, the plentiful harvest in the fall, and the rest of winter. So to do we give you thanks for the comfort you offer each one of us in every season of our lives. From the gift of new life and new opportunities, to the lose we feel. We give you thanks for the good you do and the mercy you give to us out of love. May we continue to share that love with one another. Amen.

Prayer of Thanksgiving:             God who welcomes us home, you care for us with hands wide open every day. You ensure that we have what we need. When we lack anything you send your people to help ensure that your love and care is always being provided.
